Basic: Comprehensive basic foundations course. Required of Research personnel before involvement in human subjects research. This must be taken once.
Refresher: Case base course designed to reinforce understanding of core issues related to human subjects research. This course is due once every three years. (This course is first due three years after completion of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Basic Course.)
HIPS: Both courses must be taken to receive credit. 1. Data Security and HIPAA Training Course; 2. HIPAA for Research Update. Courses do not expire.
Good Clinical Practice Refresher recommended every three years.
Rigor, Reproducibility and Ethical Behavior in Biomedical Research Refresher recommended every three years.
Affiliating an Existing CITI Account with ISMMS
To affiliate your existing CITI account with ISMMS follow the steps below:
Log in to CITI Program.
Select “Click here to affiliate with another institution”, and select “Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai”.
Enter your work email account, your name as recognized by HR and your life number (or its equivalent) in the CITI profile page. This is essential to ensure your training certifications automatically populate into your RUTH and eDMS profile.
Add the course(s) you need to complete and click “Submit”.
The Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center'’s CITI training is different than Mount Sinai Health System’s CITI training. If you are already in the CITI system, click on “Affiliate with Another Institution” and select “Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center” from the drop down menu. As you register, you will respond to questions that will determine what courses you will need to complete. The Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center’s affiliation will be added to your Main Menu in CITI.
